Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Hearables or smart headphones are gaining ground all over the world. They are hip and sexy — because they are very useful, attractive for the young & young at heart and they have no stigma.

Earphones have developed into multivalent mobile communication talents. The range of applications extends far beyond listening to music and making mobile calls. Bluetooth allows wireless connection to all devices. The listeners are impressed by the sound of the room and can compensate for ambient noises (noise canceling). The microphones not only record voice, but also commands (Siri voice control, Echo...) as well as movement and gestures. Sensors on board record biometric data (fitness trackers). The processors (dual-core CPU) are networked and transmit real-time information services, route planner, weather forecast, web search and personal network activity.

The hearables have become smaller, are comfortable to wear in the ear and the running time (battery operation) has also improved.

And the Hearables will also find their way into hearing acoustics. For seniors, they can be hearing aids, health guards, and all-round communicators.

EHIMA has been carrying out studies on this since 2013. The Australian manufacturer Nuheara presented the iQbuds with the NAL algorithms for hearing adjustment. Nuheara, Apple, Bragi, Boose, Vinci, Sony, LG, Jabra, Motorola and many more will consistently follow the path to wearable computing, i.e. Hearables for the ears and smart glasses for the eyes.

When using Hearables on a daily basis, there are the same problems as with hearing systems: reconciling moisture + cerumen + charging. Tests have shown that the dry-cap uv® is also the suitable product for care here. If you were able to dispose of earphones if they failed, the life expectancy of Hearables, which cost between €200 and €500, is significantly higher. Optimal care with drying and hygiene parallel to the charging cycle is important for maintaining the value of Hearables and the health of the user.

The dry-cap uv® has been available at hearing care retailers since September.
