Innovative care box for all rechargeable hearing aids

For the past year, the share of rechargeable hearing aids has been on the rise. Thanks to the latest battery technology, it saves the user from having to constantly change batteries. However, there is a catch. Since charging with a charger takes many hours and is only possible outside of use, the hearing aids must be charged continuously overnight.

However, for many years the hearing systems have also been dried overnight in the drying box and hygienically cleaned with UV-C light. Very quickly, hearing care professionals recognized the mango in care and looked for ways out.

With daily use of rechargeable hearing aids, power supply (battery) and care is an absolute necessity. While the processor sounds an alarm in the event of battery / accumulator performance degradation, the need for maintenance is not so easily detected, often only too late due to device failure and repair.

Moisture, body secretions and cerumen can severely impair the function of rechargeable hearing aids and cause failures. In addition to humidity, hygiene plays a significant role. Bacteria and fungi can cause skin irritations or inflammations, i.e. health risks for the hearing aid user.

Hearing aid manufacturers, ear specialists and audiologists therefore strongly advise daily care and hygiene.

This care can only be done overnight when the rechargeable hearing aids are not in use and thus in parallel with the recharging.
The effectiveness of the care depends largely on the know-how of the care box. The quality of the drying process, the effectiveness of the UV-C hygiene, the simplicity of operation (automatic) and the safety for the hearing system, charger and user are decisive.

The new dry-cap uv® from flow-med sets completely new standards here. In cooperation with hearing aid charging specialists, a new care box has been developed that is specially designed for the needs of rechargeable hearing aids.

As a development specialist for care products, flow-med is in close contact with hearing care professionals and has intensively searched for solutions for a symbiosis of charging and care at an early stage. In order to be able to reproduce the multitude of hearing aids, different loading methods with as much as possible one device and in one process, inventive new approaches were necessary.
This is achieved by a compact upper part, which combines the entire technology, paired with a lower cap. This open cap allows the accommodation of different systems and that in function (charging). The dual-port USB power supply provides power to the charger and care box at the same time.

The innovative care box has two programs. In the Dry&Clean mode program, rapid drying by means of a fan and UV-C hygiene take place automatically. By extracting the warm air from the charger, both the dehumidification of the hearing system and the charging process itself are favoured, because batteries can tolerate a maximum of 40°C (104°F). UV-C hygiene is carried out at the beginning and a second time at the end of the drying period, so that all germs, bacteria and fungi are reduced by 99.9%.
Program Clean mode is designed for quick hygiene. In only one minute, 99.9% sterility is guaranteed by means of UV-C light. This program opens the user numerous hygiene applications in the household, such as for toothbrushes, razors, dental prostheses, small toys, nipples and teats for babies, watches, jewelry, coins, kitchen sponge, but also for hygiene for electronic applications, such as mobile phone (with simultaneous charging), telephone, keyboard, PC mouse, remote control, earphones and headset.
