Until effective vaccines are available, hygiene is considered the best measure to contain the pandemic. As a rule, unfortunately, only clinics and hospitals have professional sterilization equipment and supplies.
For the vast majority of the population, hygiene measures such as keeping a distance, washing hands regularly, using disinfectant or a respiratory mask apply, as the spread of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) by infected persons occurs via droplet infection (coughing, sneezing) and via smear infection of touched objects.
Disinfection by UV-C light
In hearing aid care and hygiene we at flow-med have always used germicidal procedures against all viruses, bacteria and fungi. The sterilizing effect of UV-C radiation is based on the DNA-destroying effect of UV-C light. Representative of all germs, this is usually tested with Esherchia coli (ATCC8739), Salmonella Typhimurium (ATCC14028) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC6538), which are frequently found on the body.
The disinfecting effect of all flow-med products with UV-C light has been confirmed with certificates from certified testing institutes.
Evidence
The investigations in leading scientific institutes also prove that UV-C radiation is equally effective against coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). For example, Seoul Viosys (KOSDAQ: 092190) and Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (SETI) reduced the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the above mentioned germs with UV-C radiation (253.7nm, same intensity and distance) by 99.9% in only 30 seconds.
In concrete terms, this means that all flow-med products with UV-C light successfully reduce the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) by up to 99.9% in addition to the germs already tested.
Protective masks
When dry-cap uv 2® was developed a year ago, the corona virus was still unknown. But due to the Corona pandemic and the enacted regulations on mandatory respiratory protection masks, this product has gained immense importance and not only for hearing aid users.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet made a specific recommendation for the use of respirators for the general population.
Besides the FFP masks in three protection levels: FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3, there are numerous non-certified and self-made masks.
All respirators must be properly donned, worn and removed.
Disinfection is very important after 1 use. Fabric masks (woven) can be washed at 60°C. This is costly and hardly practical.
